DENNIS PATTON, M.S., A.B.D., M.F.T.I
I work with adults, couples, families, groups, children, adolescents, parenting, addictions, depression and anxiety. If you are struggling with emotional and/or psychological pain, please do not hesitate to book a session with me.
My undergraduate studies hold both a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Health, Physical therapy, Recreation, and Dance (Kansas Wesleyan University, KS) and a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Church Leadership (Bethany College, CA). I continued my graduate studies to acquire a Master of Science Degree (Bethany University, CA) in 2008, and am currently a Doctor of Education Candidate (Argosy University), as I am working on my dissertation on leadership development.
I have been providing clinical support to people since my practicum began in 2007 in the Santa Cruz County Jail. Simultaneously, I was providing therapeutic support at Bethany University, and most recently in a private practice (Inland Integrated Wellness Center).
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences. I am currently acquiring hours toward my license and look to attain it in 2015. I also have extensive experience in student development, community development, and executive leadership and management.
My therapeutic approach is diverse and consists of whatever is most effective. This may include cognitive behavioral therapy, emotional focus therapy, motivational interviewing, person centered therapy, and object relations therapy. When working with clients I will sometimes encourage growth by exploring family systems and through providing psycho-education on inter-personal relations.
The twelve steps are also a major therapeutic approach that I provide to clients who are suffering from addictions. People suffering from life controlling behaviors benefit from learning the cognitive functions and often find recovery when learning the biology behind their behaviors. Each person however is different and I enjoy making available unique assistance to help the client obtain their goal.
I especially love to counsel and provide therapy for couples, marriage, parenting, anger management, grief, divorce.
